TL;DR
Principal AI Engineer (Python/LLM/RAG): Shaping the architecture and technical evolution of enterprise-scale AI platforms and GenAI-powered products with an accent on production-grade systems, RAG pipelines, AI orchestration, and MLOps. Focus on designing scalable distributed architectures, establishing evaluation and governance standards, and leading cross-team technical change.
Location: Remote; working hours aligned with Pacific Time Zone (PT)

What you will do
- Define and own the architecture and technical direction of enterprise AI platforms.
- Lead the development of RAG pipelines, AI orchestration, reusable AI tooling, and production-grade AI systems and proofs of concept.
- Establish standards for AI quality, evaluation, governance, observability, and MLOps.
- Drive cross-team architecture decisions, resolve technical trade-offs, and align engineering teams.
- Shape AI-driven SDLC practices, including AI-assisted development, automation, and guardrails.
- Mentor senior engineers, conduct architecture and code reviews, and collaborate with Product, Data, Security, and Infrastructure teams.
Requirements
- Extensive software engineering experience at Staff or Principal level, with a proven ability to shape architecture and technical direction.
- Strong Python engineering background and hands-on experience building production AI systems.
- Deep understanding of LLM applications, RAG, vector databases, retrieval infrastructure, and semantic search.
- Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar AI frameworks.
- Strong background in distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, event-driven architectures, and high-scale platforms.
- Experience with AI evaluation, model lifecycle management, observability, and MLOps.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, including understanding of their impact, workflows, and guardrails.
- Proven ability to lead cross-organization technical initiatives and architectural change without formal authority.
- Strong engineering fundamentals across code quality, testing, CI/CD, and observability; excellent communication, documentation, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
