Manager, Test Development (Mathematics)

Location: Remote-first work environment; reliable cable or fiber-optic broadband with minimum speeds of 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload is required for remote work.

Develops statewide online assessments and standardized assessment products for students from kindergarten through high school, combining technology with content expertise.

What you will do

• Lead or manage the development of large-scale summative assessment content and contribute to complex test development plans and solutions.
• Manage Test Developers and Item Writers when needed, while driving content and test development training, including preparation for standard setting.
• Manage client and stakeholder expectations, resolve requests, and lead or facilitate content advisory, rubric validation, range finding, data review, and other client-facing meetings.
• Identify and escalate risks and complex department-wide issues involving scope, schedule, and budget, while monitoring resolution.
• Serve as a senior-level reviewer and mathematics content specialist, presenting to Technical Advisory Committees, clients, and senior leadership.
• Contribute autonomously to proposals and collaborate across divisions as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Math Education and at least 8 years of experience leading content development for large-scale summative assessments, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in a people or project management role.
• Deep mathematics content knowledge.
• Knowledge and experience with the U.S. education system and education assessment.
• Strong presentation skills and comfort interacting with senior leadership and clients.
• Demonstrated thought leadership, collaboration, communication, flexibility, and ability to balance concurrent responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to travel 1–8 times per year, including trips lasting 2–5 days.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Experience with innovative assessment products, including research, design, development, and implementation.
• Awareness of early childhood formative products and experience creating district-level assessments.
• Experience contributing to Technical Advisory Committees.
