Value Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco or New York City, United States; relocation benefits are available to eligible new employees.

Salary: $234,000–$260,000 per year, plus equity and eligible bonuses.

What you will do

• Lead business value assessments for major customer deals and quantify the value of OpenAI products.
• Build and maintain standardized ROI, TCO, and value-modeling tools.
• Lead value discovery, identify high-impact AI use cases, and define measurable outcomes.
• Prepare executive-ready business cases, value narratives, dashboards, and collateral.
• Develop reusable value frameworks and methodologies for value-based selling across the global go-to-market organization.
• Partner with Account Directors, post-sale teams, AI Success Engineers, AI Deployment Engineering, Sales, Security, and Product teams to influence deal strategy, renewals, and expansion.

Requirements

• 6–10 years of experience in value engineering, management consulting, or adjacent roles.
• Strong financial and analytical skills, including experience quantifying and presenting value to executive stakeholders.
• Exceptional executive presence with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Experience with large-scale AI, cloud, or digital transformation initiatives.
• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with technical and business audiences.
• Ability to translate AI capabilities into financial, productivity, and workforce transformation narratives.
• Ability to manage multiple complex customers and drive measurable outcomes.
• Humility, curiosity, customer-first mindset, ownership, urgency, and comfort navigating ambiguity.
• Ability to build in 0→1 environments and balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
