Principal Solution Architect (Insurance)

Location: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, or New York, United States; minimum three days per week in person at a client location or Bain home office; regional travel required.

Annual full-time salary: $168,500–$206,000 in Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Texas; $191,000–$234,500 in New York City. Annual discretionary performance bonus and other discretionary compensation may apply.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise, solution, cloud, and data architecture aligned with client business outcomes.
• Develop modernization roadmaps, frameworks, reference models, and target-state architectures, including AI integration.
• Translate complex business and technical requirements into actionable, scalable strategies.
• Assess and integrate vendor platforms, fintech solutions, and AWS, Azure, and GCP technologies.
• Advise CIOs, CTOs, Chief Architects, and senior executives while coaching client and Bain teams.
• Guide roadmap execution, governance, risk management, and architecture integration across transformation programs; support thought leadership and business development.

Requirements

• 15+ years of architecture and technology leadership experience; exceptional candidates with fewer years and outstanding impact may also be considered.
• Proven ability to shape enterprise, solution, and data architecture strategies and advise senior leaders on large-scale transformation programs.
• Deep Financial Services expertise, specifically Insurance across P&C and L&A domains, including underwriting, policy administration, claims, billing, and ecosystem integrations, strongly preferred.
• Expertise in ACCORD insurance industry data models and standards-based integration, interoperability, and target-state architecture.
• Technical depth in cloud, data, AI, security, operational resilience, APIs, and event-driven design.
• Mastery of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or ITABoK and fluency in cloud-native and AI-enabled architecture practices.
• Exceptional communication, influencing, emotional intelligence, and ability to bridge business strategy with technology execution.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and inspiring diverse cross-functional teams and contributing to the architecture or technology community.
• Must work in person at least three days per week and be available for regional travel.
