What you will do

• Conduct in-depth research on Islamic studies, history, social sciences, and current events for video, audio, podcast, and video essay productions.
• Locate, gather, and synthesize information from academic journals, primary sources, reputable news outlets, and expert publications.
• Verify claims, statistics, names, dates, and historical accounts, maintaining detailed annotations and citation records.
• Identify compelling statistics, anecdotes, historical precedents, and expert voices that make complex topics accessible and engaging.
• Prepare research briefs, summaries, and annotated bibliographies for producers, writers, and hosts.
• Organize a repository of research materials and sources, and provide additional support for evolving content needs.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or having completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Islamic Studies, Journalism, History, Political Science, or a related humanities or social sciences field.
• Demonstrated academic or journalistic research experience and the ability to distinguish credible from unreliable sources.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high standards of accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise summaries.
• Familiarity with academic databases such as JSTOR and ProQuest, plus advanced search engine techniques.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and collaborate remotely as part of a creative team.
• Strong passion for Yaqeen's mission and familiarity with its content and approach.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with classical Islamic sciences and primary sources.
• Experience in a media, publishing, or think tank environment.

Hiring process

• Complete an application assignment on Egypt's transformation from Napoleon's French invasion in 1798 to Muhammad Ali Pasha's rise to power in 1805.
• Support the assignment with credible historical sources and citations, identifying key events, figures, developments, narratives, and lesser-known details.
