Location: Remote within the United States; West Coast preferred. Afternoon/evening schedule required: 2pm-10pm ET, Sunday-Thursday.

Starting salary: $70,000-$110,000 per year, depending on location, experience, skills, and other factors.

What you will do

• Monitor real-time news developments and key stories.
• Write quick-turn spot news stories.
• Edit national news, including breaking stories and occasional enterprise reporting.
• Flag important developments to subject-matter experts.
• Edit work from other journalists and collaborate across teams to produce quality content.

Requirements

• Writing and editing experience in a fast-paced news environment.
• Demonstrated experience monitoring and activating on news.
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with journalists.
• Belief in Smart Brevity as the core writing style.
• Experience working across teams to produce quality content.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the digital and social media landscape.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong personal responsibility, urgency, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work 2pm-10pm ET, Sunday-Thursday.
