Editor, NYT Wirecutter (Temporary)

What you will do

• Edit and revise multiple articles and other discovery-team content while managing deadlines, editorial processes, supporting documents, and notes.
• Work with Wirecutter editors to ensure stories meet established editorial standards.
• Collaborate with fact checkers, copy editors, producers, and photo editors to prepare and present pieces for publication.
• Coach writers thoughtfully, evaluate timely trends, and help create engaging service journalism content.
• Support journalistic independence and the mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
• Report to the Editorial Director.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working at a media company, including at least one year working with and editing writers.
• Hands-on experience working with writers as both an editor and people manager.
• Ability to tell stories powerfully, coach writers thoughtfully, and assess trends with discernment.
• Strong commitment to journalistic independence and the mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Nice to have

• Passion balanced by skepticism toward marketing claims and unproven ideas.
• Experience writing or editing timely, short-form content.
• Experience collaborating with an art director and/or photo editor to present content visually.
• Experience expressing complex ideas through charts, graphs, infographics, or other visualizations.
