Underwriter (Insurance)

Location: Draper, Utah, United States; initial training is in person, followed by a merit-based work-from-home program determined by job responsibilities and leadership.

What you will do

• Apply insurance coverages, rules, guidelines, philosophy, and procedures to make underwriting decisions.
• Learn insurance coverages and contracts through the assigned underwriter training program.
• Read and interpret policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements.
• Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics of risks.
• Assemble information, develop opinions, and communicate decisions using sound reasoning and judgment.
• Communicate with independent agents and associates and build knowledge of supporting underwriting functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty underwriting.
• Ability to organize data, multitask, and make independent decisions.
• Above-average written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write reports and compose correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues.
• Ability to continually develop product knowledge through approved educational programs.
• Ability to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
