Finance Analyst (Pensions)

Location: Hybrid work arrangement at hirify.global Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Salary: $6,143.67–$8,830.25 CAD monthly.

hirify.global is a university administering staff and faculty pension plans through its Pension Administration Office.

What you will do

• Analyze and reconcile financial information from Workday, Adagio, pension custodian reports, investment managers, and other sources.
• Investigate accounting discrepancies, unusual items, and financial issues; determine corrective actions and escalate significant matters.
• Coordinate financial activities, transactions, payment processes, SRA payments, and related schedules across pension programs.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, year-end, external, audit, and compliance reporting support, including working papers and schedules.
• Prepare accounting entries, assess accounting treatment and reporting periods, maintain audit trails, and support GST filings and rebates.
• Assess data integrity, develop financial schedules and analytical tools, and recommend improvements to accounting processes and procedures.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Completion of at least 7 of the 14 CPA academic prerequisites.
• Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Strong accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify error causes, resolve routine issues, and interpret financial reports.
• Strong attention to detail and sound judgment within established accounting policies and procedures.

Nice to have

• Experience analyzing and reconciling financial information and reviewing financial transactions.
• Experience identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies and errors.
• Experience preparing financial reports, schedules, or accounting documentation, including accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Workday, and/or Adagio.
• Working knowledge of Canadian GST rules and their application to financial transactions.
• Understanding of month-end and period-end accounting procedures.
• Experience working with financial data from multiple sources and reconciling differences.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reconciliation.
• Experience in a pension, investment, benefits, or other complex financial environment.
