Senior SQL Server Database Administrator (SQL Server)

Location: Onsite in Little Rock, Arkansas, United States; employees work onsite 5 days per week and provide 24/7 support as needed. Only candidates with work authorization that will not require sponsorship now or in the future will be considered.

Salary: $45–$50 per hour.

What you will do

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server 2022 environments and related services.
• Administer SQL Server security, auditing, authentication, encryption, compliance controls, Agent jobs, logs, policies, Linked Servers, MSDTC, Service Broker, and system databases.
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery, retention, and disaster recovery procedures aligned with business RPO and RTO objectives.
• Perform performance tuning, T-SQL optimization, capacity planning, storage management, ETL support, and administration of very large and high-volume transactional and batch-processing systems.
• Support SQL Server high availability, Always On Availability Groups, AWS-based HA architectures, Windows Failover Cluster Services, clustered storage, Windows Servers, and AWS EC2 instances.
• Use PowerShell for automation, manage endpoint protection and server roles, support application, web, file, and FTP servers, and collaborate with infrastructure, application support, security, and business teams during on-call and 24-hour production support.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on SQL Server database administration experience with SQL Server 2022, 2019, 2017, or 2016, including installation, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server security, auditing, encryption, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery; experience with performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Advanced T-SQL development and optimization skills and experience supporting high availability technologies, including Always On Availability Groups.
• Experience managing large-scale or mission-critical database environments.
• 3+ years of Windows Server administration experience, including building and maintaining Windows Servers and AWS EC2 instances.
• Experience with Windows Failover Clustering and clustered environments; proficiency with PowerShell administration and automation.
• Strong understanding of server roles, features, and .NET Framework components.
• Relevant technical certifications and availability to provide 24-hour support as needed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to perform the essential physical functions of the role, including prolonged computer-based sedentary work and communication in person and by phone.

Nice to have

• Experience with FAST GenTax / DS-VS architecture and application maintenance.
• Knowledge of AWS cloud services, cloud computing, cloud storage, backup, and recovery solutions.
• Familiarity with PUB1075, FIPS, and PII security requirements.
• Active Directory administration, including GPOs, DNS, FQDN, and SPN management.
• Firewall administration and maintenance experience.
• Experience troubleshooting email, SMTP, and proxy servers.
• Web services development or support experience.
• Experience supporting government tax, revenue, or regulatory systems.
