Senior Software Engineer - Streaming Infrastructure

Location: Remote; San Mateo, California, United States. U.S. person status and the ability to access controlled or restricted information are required.

Salary: $190,000–$250,000 annual base salary, plus stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and improve Kubernetes infrastructure for real-time streaming services, including capacity planning and compute and bandwidth efficiency.
• Improve deployment, scaling, recovery, rollout, and rollback workflows while minimizing disruption to active streams.
• Build observability and define service-level objectives for stream availability, connection success, and latency.
• Investigate failures across application code, Linux networking, containers, and cloud infrastructure to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with device, networking, security, product, and cloud infrastructure engineers on the device-to-cloud streaming path and new real-time capabilities.
• Strengthen security practices and controls protecting customer data, drones, and streaming services.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in SRE, platform engineering, DevOps, or an equivalent infrastructure role.
• Ability to independently deliver infrastructure projects from design through production and collaborate across teams.
• Strong experience operating and automating production Kubernetes clusters, with familiarity with AWS and continuous deployment systems.
• Experience with safe rollout and rollback strategies.
• Experience operating distributed systems with long-lived connections, latency-sensitive traffic, or demanding availability requirements.
• Ability to fix underlying issues in application code; Go is preferred.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, storage, and resilient application topologies.
• Experience diagnosing connectivity and performance issues across application, container, and cloud networking layers.
• Experience building observability and using production metrics, logs, traces, and profiling to investigate failures.

Nice to have

• Experience operating real-time video, communications, or device connectivity platforms, including drones or highly automated physical hardware.
• Familiarity with WebRTC, RTP/RTCP, ICE/STUN/TURN, or LiveKit.
• Experience troubleshooting packet loss, jitter, latency, and NAT/firewall traversal in real-time streaming systems.
• Experience scaling connection-oriented services, including connection draining and graceful shutdown.
• Familiarity with supporting both SaaS and self-hosted applications.
