Senior Mechatronics Systems Design Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Milpitas, California, USA; onsite role with some travel to customer sites of less than 10%

Base pay: $141,300–$240,200 annually

Develops inspection tools, metrology systems, process solutions, and computational analytics for semiconductor manufacturing, including film thickness, critical dimension, composition, and resistivity measurement.

What you will do

• Develop metrology equipment as part of a multidisciplinary team serving challenging semiconductor manufacturing requirements.
• Work independently on data collection, analysis, calibration, and script development using Python or Matlab.
• Perform hands-on hardware work and collect data in laboratory and cleanroom environments.
• Define plans for system integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate closely with the customer support organization.

Requirements

• Doctorate with 3 years of related work experience, or a master's degree with 6 years, or a bachelor's degree with 8 years of related work experience.
• Good understanding of feedback control system design, system identification, and signal processing applied to the control and characterization of mechanical systems.
• Strong experience with experimental design and hardware-in-the-loop experimentation for retiring design risks.
• Basic or intermediate knowledge of precision machine design.
• Willingness to take responsibility and quickly ramp up through existing documentation and on-the-job training.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites occasionally, less than 10%.

• Knowledge of numerical optimization and image processing.
