Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States, Spain, or United Kingdom

Estimated base salary: $176,645–$252,350 in the USA; £87,241–£124,630 in the UK. Compensation depends on location, level, knowledge, skills, and experience.

hirify.global develops a collaborative product and is expanding its AI-native Compose product to acquire customers and grow revenue.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and grow a team of full-stack engineers through 1:1s, clear expectations, and performance management.
• Own end-to-end delivery through rapid experimentation, early releases to users, measurement, and iteration while maintaining reliability.
• Partner with Product and Design on the Compose roadmap using customer feedback and usage data.
• Review pull requests, set technical standards, and guide architecture decisions while remaining hands-on.
• Improve engineering practices across testing, observability, and AI-assisted development.
• Model a sustainable remote-first, work-in-public culture.

Requirements

• 2+ years of direct management experience for software engineers, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer building and operating production applications, with hands-on technical work within the last 3–4 years.
• Solid technical foundation for leading architecture discussions and reviewing code credibly.
• Ability to make sound decisions quickly, learn from data, and change direction based on evidence.
• People-first leadership approach based on empathy, listening, trust, and psychological safety.
• Excellent communication skills, including explaining technical tradeoffs to product, business, and customer stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience leading a team that shipped LLM-powered features to production, including evaluation, quality monitoring, and cost management.
• Experience building AI agents or retrieval systems, knowledge graphs, or familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP).
