Senior TypeScript Engineer (Node.js, AWS Serverless, FinTech)

Location: Flexible hybrid in London, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh or Bristol, United Kingdom.

Salary: £600 per day, Inside IR35. Contract duration: 6 months.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate TypeScript and Node.js services on AWS serverless infrastructure from architecture through production delivery.
• Own service SLAs and continuously improve reliability and quality.
• Write and maintain service documentation.
• Mentor and guide engineers while leading technical delivery in a build-and-run model.
• Explain system behavior to non-technical colleagues and collaborate openly with product and operations.
• Make pragmatic engineering decisions and challenge ideas constructively.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Hands-on AWS experience, including Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, API Gateway, S3, ECS, and serverless infrastructure.
• Strong experience with event-driven architecture and document databases, ideally MongoDB.
• Experience leading technical delivery in a build-and-run model, mentoring engineers, and managing incidents.
• Experience in a regulated industry, ideally financial services or FinTech.
• Experience designing, building, and running high-quality workflow APIs with a focus on testing, observability, and performance.
• Comfort working with distributed systems and debugging through tracing and observability tooling.
• Experience with a strongly, statically typed language and the ability to turn business and customer problems into efficient, scalable solutions.
• Curiosity about investment and custody products.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-region, multi-currency, or trading-related systems.
• Experience with Terraform, Serverless Framework, and GitHub Actions.
• Some exposure to C#.
