Project Engineering Manager (Renewable Energy & Energy Storage)

Location: Hybrid, 2–3 days in the office; USA-VA-Arlington. Other listed locations: Mountain View, Alpharetta, and Houston.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams while managing resources, staffing, workloads, performance, and professional development.
• Support Sales during bidding by evaluating requirements, preparing preliminary designs, technical proposals, and cost estimates, and presenting solutions to customers.
• Oversee engineering from bidding through detailed design, execution, and commissioning, including drawings, specifications, documentation, and technical reviews.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Procurement, Construction, and other stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and deliver projects within schedule, budget, quality, and customer requirements.
• Manage technical risks, quality control, compliance, safety support, audits, corrective actions, and engineering documentation.
• Support engineering strategy, process improvement, standardization, lessons learned, and execution efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Energy Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of engineering experience in renewable energy, energy storage, or a related industry, including 2–5 years leading engineering teams or overseeing large-scale engineering projects.
• Experience supporting projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering, execution, and commissioning.
• Hands-on experience designing, installing, or commissioning renewable energy or energy storage systems.
• Experience supporting technical proposals, preliminary engineering designs, and cost estimates during bidding.
• Proficiency with engineering design tools such as AutoCAD, PVSyst, WindPro, ETAP, or comparable software.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, ASME, NEC, and UL codes and standards.
• Understanding of grid integration, power electronics, inverter technologies, and energy efficiency principles.
• Strong project coordination, technical problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, resource management, and prioritization skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems and related engineering or commissioning activities.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
• Experience with energy modeling and engineering simulation software.
• Knowledge of Chilean market requirements, engineering codes, and regulatory standards.
• Professional Engineer license or equivalent regional certification.
• Renewable energy certifications such as NABCEP Solar PV Professional, LEED Accreditation, or Certified Energy Manager.
• Certifications or specialized training related to grid-edge technologies or Battery Energy Storage Systems.
• Experience implementing engineering process improvements and technical standardization initiatives.
