Contract Principal Project Manager (AI)

Location: Houston, TX; People Before Place Hybrid model with minimal travel. An employment visa is not sponsored, and an existing employment visa must remain effective for at least 3 years from the application date.

Salary: Base compensation of $135,000. Contract duration: 4–6 months.

What you will do

• Establish scalable delivery approaches, sequencing, governance, quality standards, and integrated roadmaps across complex, multi-project programs.
• Coordinate technical, design, product, business, account, and client stakeholders across interconnected project teams.
• Lead scope management, estimation, financial calibration, burn tracking, forecasting, resource planning, and program-level status reporting.
• Design AI-enabled delivery workflows and lead responsible AI adoption across program teams.
• Manage risks, escalations, critical situations, dependencies, and systemic issues using structured problem-solving and program health metrics.
• Mentor project managers, develop leaders, drive process improvements, and advise senior stakeholders on complex program decisions.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of project management experience in consulting, professional services, or similar services-based organizations.
• Certification such as PMP, CSM, CSPO, or a similar project management certification.
• Proven successful delivery of projects of all sizes and complexities.
• Exceptional communication skills, including client and stakeholder management.
• Experience crafting deliverable components of statements of work and writing business requirements documents.
• Working familiarity with Jira, Notion, Slack, Claude, GitHub, Miro, and budget tracking tools.
• Fluency in Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, and other project management methodologies, with willingness to adapt as the SDLC evolves.
• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, problem-solving, mentoring, and leadership capabilities.
