TL;DR
Electrical Engineer - Integration (Controls Engineering) (industrial controls and pulsed lasers): Building complete electrical design packages for control-system wiring and interconnects, carrying them through fabrication, checkout, commissioning, and as-built documentation with an accent on grounding, shielding, power distribution, and high-EMI signal integrity. Focus on integrating PLC and EtherCAT I/O, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, troubleshooting installation issues, and designing for pulsed laser systems.

Location: On-site at the headquarters in Denver, Colorado, United States. U.S. citizenship or nationality, permanent residency, refugee status, or asylum status is required. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance if required in the future; clearance is not required at hire.

Salary: $125,000–$150,000 per year.

Company

hirify.global develops inertial fusion energy systems and multi-kilojoule-class pulsed lasers for clean power and air defense applications.

What you will do

  • Translate controls I/O lists, signal lists, and interconnect definitions into panel schematics, layouts, terminal and cable schedules, harness drawings, connector pinouts, and bills of material.
  • Own electrical design packages from requirements through design reviews, change-controlled drawing release, fabrication, and as-built records.
  • Design grounding, bonding, shielding, isolation, control power, instrument power distribution, circuit protection, wiring, and enclosure components for high-EMI pulsed-power environments.
  • Prepare build packages, work instructions, kitting, and sequencing; lead handoff to E&IC technicians and support fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
  • Execute point-to-point checkout, loop checks, and commissioning; troubleshoot wiring and signal issues and document root causes and design changes.
  • Coordinate interfaces with controls, mechanical, pulsed power, optics, facilities, and manufacturing teams; contribute to engineering standards and mentor junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical design for control systems, industrial automation, or test facilities, including producing buildable drawing packages.
  • Experience with control-panel and enclosure design and schematic drafting using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar tools.
  • Solid knowledge of grounding, bonding, shielding, EMI/EMC, low-voltage power distribution, circuit protection, and wire and cable sizing according to NEC, NFPA 79, and UL 508A.
  • Working knowledge of PLC and EtherCAT I/O, remote I/O, sensors, actuators, signal conditioning, relays, discrete signals, analog signals, and 4–20 mA signals.
  • Hands-on field checkout and commissioning experience, including point-to-point verification, loop checks, and troubleshooting with multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience releasing and revising drawings through document or change control and working with PLM or document-management systems.
  • Ability to work independently on problems of diverse scope, communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, and work on-site in Denver.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Experience with pulsed power, high voltage, lasers, accelerators, national laboratory facilities, isolation, or fiber-optic signaling.
  • Experience with precision timing and trigger-distribution cabling, coax, fiber, and matched-length runs.
  • Experience with harness design tools such as Altium, Zuken E3, or Capital and with harness shops.
  • Familiarity with safety-related controls, interlocks, emergency-stop circuits, safety relays, trapped-key systems, ISO 13849, or IEC 62061.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout, arc-flash labeling, and approach boundaries.
  • Experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT/EtherCAT, Siemens, or Rockwell platforms; P&IDs, instrument indexes, and loop sheets.
  • Experience mentoring technicians or leading small work packages.

Culture & Benefits

  • On-site work with a team focused on inertial fusion energy, tough technology, fusion science, and manufacturing.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; short- and long-term disability; and paid parental leave.
  • 401(k) with company matching up to 6% and employee equity eligibility.
  • Flexible paid time off, paid sick time, 13 company-paid holidays, and an annual paid company shutdown.
  • Equal employment opportunity and affirmative-action workplace commitments.
