Principal RF Systems Engineer (RF Systems)

Location: On-site in Devens, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $150,000–$225,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

hirify.global develops commercially viable fusion power plants and is building the SPARC tokamak and its RF power systems.

What you will do

• Define the end-to-end architecture and integration strategy for tokamak RF plants.
• Lead the integration of solid-state amplifiers, power supplies, RF sources, matching networks, and distributed electronics.
• Design and integrate RF instrumentation, signal detection, measurement circuits, embedded digital controllers, and data-collection interfaces.
• Design, integrate, and optimize large-diameter coaxial transmission lines and dynamic impedance-matching networks.
• Commission equipment, troubleshoot complex system-level hardware issues, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field; a Master’s degree or Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of hands-on experience with high-power RF systems, radar, particle accelerators, or heavy industrial power electronics.
• Hands-on expertise measuring forward and reflected RF power, diagnosing RF arcs, and designing timing and protective electronics.
• Strong RF circuit and electronics design skills using Altium or similar tools, including instrumentation, sensing, control, system integration, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
• High proficiency with RF/microwave simulation software such as CST or HFSS, plus understanding of embedded controllers, high-speed communications, and mechanical/thermal interfaces.
• Must be able to work around industrial hazards including high voltage, high current, strong magnets, lead, pressure systems, and cryogenics; occasional travel, nights, weekends, or on-call work may be required.
