Mid-Level Continuous Improvement Specialist (Lean Manufacturing)

Location: Wichita, Kansas, United States; onsite, union-represented position

Salary: $71,700–$109,950 annually

What you will do

• Apply Lean principles, methodologies, and tools to support a Lean culture across commercial business units.
• Gather customer requirements, define project scope, evaluate current conditions, analyze existing processes, and document process findings.
• Collect performance metrics, perform shop performance trend analysis, and identify continuous improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop Lean improvement strategies and select appropriate Lean tools or training to support implementation.
• Coach, train, and mentor cross-functional teams in Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Kanban, GEMBA meetings, 7 Elements of Surgery, Kitting and Outfitting, 3P, AIW, and RCCA.
• Facilitate Kaizen events, implement improvement plans, document accomplishments, and coordinate delivery against customer expectations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of related work experience.
• Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with executive leaders.
• Ability to manage through influence and provide leadership across multiple teams simultaneously.
• Proven ability to balance multiple projects, including coordination, status tracking, and performance to plan.
• Cross-functional coordination and leadership to achieve project goals.
• Experience with SAP, ERP, MRP, and EXRP.
• Risk assessment and mitigation skills, with the ability to foster business partnerships with internal customers.
• Preferred knowledge of manufacturing environments, Lean processing, and industrial engineering concepts.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Six Sigma experience.
• PMP or other PMI certification.
• Experience with individual project management and tracking within a larger portfolio.
• Ability to create and present in-depth presentations to executive-level management.
• Ability to develop schedules appropriate to project scope.
• Technical background for working with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to integrate large multi-year projects with small near-term projects.
• Business acumen to quantify project implications and coordinate with Finance on tracking to plan.
