Principal Mobile Engineer / Mobile Architect (E-commerce)

Location: Remote or from one of the company's offices; significant overlap with Pacific Time Zone (PT) working hours is required.

What you will do

• Define, evolve, and own the architecture of a large-scale mobile platform.
• Lead mobile modernization, re-architecture, and platform evolution initiatives.
• Set standards for mobile architecture, engineering practices, testing, release management, governance, and reusable patterns.
• Contribute to production mobile code and develop proofs of concept for architectural approaches.
• Drive architecture reviews, technical decisions, code reviews, and alignment across multiple engineering teams.
• Address performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability challenges while partnering with Product, Backend, Platform, Data, Security, and Infrastructure teams.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience at Staff, Principal, Architect, or equivalent level.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Swift/iOS and Kotlin/Android development, plus experience with React Native or Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP/KMM).
• Deep knowledge of modern mobile architecture patterns, modular application design, platform architecture, mobile performance optimization, and application scalability.
• Proven experience leading mobile modernization or re-architecture initiatives and designing offline-first mobile applications with data synchronization strategies.
• Strong knowledge of mobile CI/CD, testing practices, release engineering, automation, code quality, observability, reliability, and continuous delivery.
• Experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems, including APIs, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and high-scale platforms.
• Experience with e-commerce platforms, product catalogs, or high-traffic consumer applications.
• Ability to drive cross-team and cross-organizational technical decisions, align engineering teams, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and influence stakeholders without formal authority.
• Strong communication, architecture and code review, mentoring, and collaboration skills across Product, Data, Security, Infrastructure, and Engineering organizations; experience with globally distributed teams across the US, LATAM, and Asia.
• Hands-on production experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools, including AI-driven SDLC practices and appropriate quality, security, and reliability guardrails.
• Availability to collaborate during Pacific Time Zone (PT) working hours.
