What you will do

• Own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and future content direction for the playbook rebuild.
• Work with the client to confirm the target platform and define re-platforming requirements for the WordPress-based product.
• Prioritise the backlog using user research, sector engagement, and councils’ operational, compliance, and resilience needs.
• Shape tech analysis product ideas through discovery and test-and-learn activities, deciding what to pursue or stop.
• Define how councils contribute to the living playbook and how contributions are reviewed.
• Coordinate with the delivery manager, business analyst, designers, developer, architect, senior stakeholders, councils, partners, and peers to deliver a secure, assured product and prepare the handover.

Requirements

• SC clearance, active SC clearance, or SC eligibility.
• Substantial product management experience on digital services with clear evidence of outcomes.
• Experience owning a content-led product or website on WordPress and working with web developers within the platform’s constraints.
• Experience setting product vision and strategy and turning them into a prioritised roadmap.
• Strong understanding of user-centred design and experience working with user research.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary agile teams and managing multiple stakeholders.
• Experience managing a product through discovery, alpha, beta, and live, including service assessments.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with products built on the GOV.UK platform and Design System.
• Understanding of the GOV.UK Service Standard.
• Experience in UK government, local government, or the wider public sector.
• Experience managing community-contributed or content-led products.
• Familiarity with data products and discovery work.
• Understanding of cyber and technology risk in the public sector.
