Quality & Operational Compliance Leader (Aerospace/Defense)

Location: Brisbane, Australia, with regular travel between Australian sites and occasional international travel; access to office, aviation, maintenance and other operational environments is required.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, certification and ongoing maintenance of the Australian ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Coordinate Australia's Integrated Management System, including applicable AS9100, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 27001 requirements.
• Maintain registers of contractual, customer, regulatory and management-system requirements and monitor evidence of conformity.
• Develop proportionate processes, procedures, records and controls with Australian leaders and functional owners.
• Plan and deliver risk-based internal audits, compliance assessments and gap analyses covering documented arrangements and work as performed.
• Coordinate external certification and surveillance audits, corrective actions, management reviews, compliance analysis and awareness training.

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in quality, engineering, aviation, business, risk, compliance or a related discipline, supported by relevant professional experience.
• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in quality assurance, operational compliance, management systems or regulatory compliance, preferably within aviation, aerospace, defence or another highly regulated sector.
• Demonstrated experience implementing, maintaining or materially improving an ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and practical understanding of integrated management systems spanning quality, environmental, WHS, information security and aerospace-quality requirements.
• Experience planning and conducting internal audits, supporting external certification audits, managing findings and verifying corrective-action effectiveness.
• Strong understanding of process ownership, risk-based thinking, root-cause analysis, performance measurement, management review and continual improvement.
• Ability to interpret contractual and technical requirements and convert them into clear processes and objective evidence.
• Strong judgement, professional independence and communication skills, including the ability to influence senior leaders and operational teams in a global matrixed organisation.
• Current driver's licence, ability to travel regularly between Australian sites and occasionally internationally, and ability to access operational environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification for ISO 9001 or AS9100, with additional auditor competence in ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or ISO 27001.
• Experience establishing a new certified management system or extending certification into a new legal entity, geography or operational scope.
• Working knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements relevant to maintenance, engineering, suppliers and configuration-controlled products or services.
• Experience in Australian aviation, defence contracting, government customers or CASA-regulated operating environments.
• Experience using digital management-system, audit, corrective-action or business-intelligence tools.
