Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Database Platform)

What you will do

• Build and extend the database management control plane for hirify.global’s YugabyteDB-based global database platform.
• Provision databases, orchestrate safe operational workflows, and encode reliability guardrails.
• Improve backup systems, configuration management tools, PgBouncer integrations, and internal fleet-management tooling.
• Develop data and schema migration systems and database safety and performance guardrails.
• Write code, operate production systems, debug distributed-systems failures, and participate in the on-call rotation.
• At Staff level, lead ambiguous and technically difficult problems, influence across teams, and own systems escalated through the pager.

Requirements

• Ability to write high-quality code in a high-level programming language such as Go or Ruby.
• Experience or interest in configuration management and comfort working in a Linux shell.
• Experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL internals, distributed databases, or database reliability engineering.
• Experience with a cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps practices, or software engineering experience with an interest in infrastructure work.
• Strong technical mentorship skills and dedication to psychological safety in the workplace.
• Self-starter and team-player mindset, with an interest in mentoring others and growing technical skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working on a remote or distributed engineering team.
• Commitment to quality, technical excellence, and results.
• Experience participating in an on-call rotation and/or Site/Database Reliability Engineering experience; this role requires on-call work.

Nice to have

• Experience with hirify.global’s current stack: YugabyteDB, Ansible, Ubuntu, Ruby, Golang, Kubernetes, PgBouncer, or Google Cloud Platform.
