Accounting Lead

Location: Hybrid in Barcelona, Spain; relocation and full visa support are available for candidates moving to Barcelona.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team across Barcelona and Turkey, including prioritization, work review, feedback, delegation, and contingency coverage.
• Own the end-to-end accounting cycle, month-end and year-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and intercompany accounting across all group entities.
• Own multi-jurisdiction tax compliance, including VAT and corporate income tax filings, VAT refund claims, tax authority queries, and coordination with external tax advisors.
• Maintain audit readiness, manage the audit calendar and supporting schedules, coordinate with external auditors, and follow up on findings.
• Unify accounting principles and policies across jurisdictions while reconciling local statutory requirements with group reporting.
• Lead the accounting side of ERP implementation and optimization, including data migration, testing, documentation, and automation, while partnering with FP&A, Legal, HR, and Procurement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years leading or managing a team.
• Strong working knowledge of tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including VAT and corporate income tax, filings, refund claims, and tax authority interactions.
• Experience preparing for and supporting external audits in a multi-entity group and maintaining audit-ready records.
• Experience with a major ERP system. NetSuite is preferred.
• Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP, IFRS, financial statements, group reporting, and internal controls.
• Leadership, delegation, coaching, accountability-building, precision, thoroughness, discrepancy investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action skills.
• Process improvement, automation, time management, prioritization, and the ability to manage simultaneous deadlines during closing periods.
