Senior Finance Accountant (AI)

Location: Hybrid, based in Brussels, Belgium or Valencia, Spain, with two days per week in the office. Occasional travel within Europe is required.

What you will do

• Own day-to-day accounting execution in NetSuite across European group entities, including supplier bills, payroll-related bills, contractor invoices, journals, fixed assets, and period close.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, internal controls, segregation of duties, audit trails, and compliance-ready documentation.
• Drive AI adoption and automation across finance operations, including transaction categorization, variance commentary, reconciliations, e-invoicing, vendor coding, and workflow alerts.
• Prepare payment batches, supervise bank connectivity and cash reconciliations, and develop rolling cash forecasts using Embat, NetSuite, Payhawk, and related tools.
• Manage revenue recognition, VAT and statutory compliance, payroll journals, intercompany accounting, cross-charges, group consolidation support, and management reporting.
• Help implement the future finance operating model by bringing core accounting activities in-house and improving scalable processes and documentation.

Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional qualification; candidates with substantial relevant experience may also be considered.
• At least 4 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity, international, scale-up, or professional services environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, amortisation, fixed assets, VAT, payroll accounting, intercompany accounting, internal controls, and audit readiness.
• Hands-on NetSuite experience covering supplier bills, journals, reconciliations, fixed assets, period close, and reporting.
• Experience preparing payment batches and working with banking or payment platforms.
• Experience working with external accounting firms, auditors, payroll providers, and tax advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
• Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to manage recurring deadlines, investigate discrepancies, and maintain thorough documentation.
• Strong communication skills, a collaborative hands-on approach, and the ability to work independently while escalating issues clearly and early.
• A systems-oriented scalability mindset and demonstrated passion for AI and automation, including hands-on use of tools such as Dust, ChatGPT, or Claude.
• Fluent English is required, along with willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.

• Experience improving NetSuite processes.
• Experience with Embat, Payhawk, Upflow, Eagl, or similar tools.
