Senior Java Backend Developer

Location: Lisbon, Porto, Braga or Coimbra, Portugal; hybrid work with 2 days per week at the office.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java, object-oriented principles, and design patterns.
• Implement Terraform infrastructure-as-code components for scalable and repeatable environments.
• Build and evolve event-driven integrations with Kafka.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests using TDD and shift-left testing practices.
• Contribute to Git-based CI/CD pipelines and workflows.
• Deploy and operate services in Kubernetes environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex issues and deliver reliable solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on Java backend development.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and common design patterns.
• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and automation.
• Hands-on experience with unit testing, integration testing, and TDD/shift-left practices.
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD concepts and workflows.
• Knowledge of Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Experience working with Kubernetes in development and/or production environments.
• Experience with GraphQL Federation and knowledge of Azure Cloud.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
