TL;DR
Lead Software Engineer (Java/Spring Boot): Building and architecting large distributed platforms and cloud-native services with an accent on REST APIs, AWS, reliability practices, and event-driven design. Focus on designing scalable architectures, communicating technical decisions to varied stakeholders, and integrating testing, monitoring, logging, and alerting across distributed systems.
Location: Hybrid in Lisbon, Portugal, 3 days per week. Candidates must already be based in Portugal and have Portuguese or EU citizenship or a valid work permit.

What you will do
- Architect large distributed platforms using Domain-Driven Design and Event-Driven Design.
- Develop distributed services with Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
- Implement cloud-native solutions on AWS and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
- Apply monitoring, logging, alerting, and reliability practices in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Communicate architecture and technical decisions clearly to varied stakeholders.
Requirements
- 6 years of experience as a Software Engineer.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs in distributed services.
- Experience with AWS cloud-native solutions, Jenkins CI/CD, JUnit, Mockito, and BDD frameworks.
- Experience architecting large distributed platforms using Domain-Driven Design and Event-Driven Design.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum ways of working, monitoring, logging, alerting, and reliability practices.
- Ability to communicate architecture to varied stakeholders in clear, practical terms.
- Fluency in English at B2 level.
- Availability for hybrid work in Lisbon, 3 days per week, with existing residence in Portugal and Portuguese or EU citizenship or a valid work permit.
Nice to have
- Big Data and analytics experience with Databricks, Spark, Hadoop, Python, and Scala.
- Frontend knowledge of React or Angular, Node.js, and GraphQL.
