Supply Chain Operations Manager - Rail (Chemical Logistics)

Location: Hamburg, Germany; responsibility for rail transportation across Europe.

What you will do

• Coordinate rail tank car transportation across Europe, including single-wagon and block train operations, for propylene and customers.
• Act as the central interface between customers, suppliers, railway undertakings, rail freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate external logistics partners and ensure agreed service and quality standards.
• Resolve transport disruptions and capacity constraints, maintain continuity of supply, and use KPIs to improve service, quality, and efficiency.
• Manage and monitor supply chain processes in SAP and other digital systems, maintaining data and process quality.
• Work with Product Management, Sales, and Logistics to improve supply chain performance and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Experience in supply chain management, chemical logistics, rail freight, or a comparable business environment.
• Strong organisational skills, a customer-focused mindset, and a pragmatic, solution-focused approach to operational challenges.
• Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders, balance different interests and priorities, and communicate clearly and collaboratively.
• Experience with SAP SD/MM/TM and common MS Office applications.
• Very good German and good written and spoken English.

• Experience with dangerous goods, customs, and foreign trade matters.
