Product Design Intern (Fintech)

Location: Remote in Peru or Bogota, Colombia

Salary: $800 USD gross per month as an independent contractor

What you will do

• Partner with product managers and engineers to design user-friendly features across web and mobile platforms.
• Create wireframes, visual designs, prototypes, and interaction flows balancing clarity, aesthetics, usability, and accessibility.
• Build and document reusable components in Figma and contribute to scalable design systems.
• Maintain consistency across UI patterns, language, branding, and product components.
• Participate in user research and testing, present design rationale, gather feedback, and iterate on solutions.
• Explore illustration, motion design, and micro-interactions to improve the product experience.

Requirements

• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
• Some hands-on experience designing digital products for web or mobile through internships, coursework, freelance work, or personal projects.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Strong proficiency in Figma for interface design and prototyping, including creating and updating UI components.
• Demonstrated experience with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required; comfort using AI for productivity, research, and communication is mandatory.
• Familiarity with modern product design trends and basic design principles.
• Understanding of accessible and inclusive experiences, scalable UI systems, color and typography tokens, and reusable components.
• Comfort juggling multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining quality, communicating clearly, collaborating with others, and incorporating feedback.
• Online portfolio or PDF containing 3–4 best digital design projects, clear explanations of problems and requirements, and the design process.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, or React.
• Experience with animation or motion tools such as After Effects, Lottie, or Rive.
• Interest in interactive components and motion-enhanced micro-interactions.
• Curiosity about how AI can support and accelerate the design process.
