Senior AI Engineer (Defence)

What you will do

• Deliver advanced AI solutions using modern machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI technologies.
• Drive adoption of modern AI frameworks, AIOps best practices, and scalable cloud-native architectures.
• Translate customer business challenges into trustworthy AI solutions through hands-on technical delivery.
• Ensure responsible AI practices throughout solution development and delivery.
• Collaborate with colleagues and customers, support junior developers, and provide technical direction and mentoring.
• Make sound technical decisions in a fast-paced environment while contributing to continuous learning and engineering excellence.

Requirements

• Minimum 2.1 degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Statistics, or a similar quantitative field.
• Experience deploying modern AI/ML solutions into production, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, model evaluation, and monitoring with metrics such as precision, recall, NDCG, and drift detection.
• Strong Python skills and grounding in software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, testing, and code reviews.
• Experience developing solutions at scale on Azure and AWS, using containerisation and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Expertise in AI data engineering, including large-scale, unstructured, and multimodal data.
• Understanding of responsible AI principles, model interpretability, and ethical considerations.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Active SC Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow, fine-tuning or distillation of LLMs such as GPT, Llama, Claude, and Gemini, and machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn and XGBoost.
• Experience with AI data storage, vector databases, semantic search, and knowledge graphs.
• Contributions to open-source AI projects or research publications.
• Familiarity with AI security, privacy, and compliance standards such as ISO42001.
• Defence sector experience.
