VP Engineering (SaaS)

Location: Stockholm, Sweden; hybrid work with flexible remote/on-site arrangements.

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for the company, platform modernization, scalability, and future use of AI.
• Own delivery from discovery through launch and follow-up in collaboration with product management, design, marketing, sales, and customer success.
• Lead a team of 7 developers in Stockholm and Ukraine, with expected growth of 1–3 people over the coming year.
• Own the plan for agentic development and modernization of the Python/Django platform running on AWS.
• Lead security practices aligned with ISO 27001 and the planned ISO 42001 standard for AI.
• Report directly to the CEO as a member of the management team.

Requirements

• Senior technical leadership experience as a VP Engineering, CTO, or equivalent.
• Experience leading teams of at least 5 people, with coaching of other leaders preferred within the experience profile.
• Experience in B2B SaaS, including understanding enterprise customer needs around security and integrations.
• Experience moving technology teams to agentic development.
• Experience working with a mature product; platform refactoring or modernization is a strong plus.
• Experience building and operating cloud-based solutions with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Fluent Swedish and English, written and spoken.
• Clear leadership style with delegation, context-based motivation, accountability, early feedback, and experience making difficult people decisions.
• Technical depth sufficient to engage with important details, combined with a pragmatic understanding of the business and financial consequences of architectural decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience coaching other leaders.
• Experience refactoring or modernizing larger platforms.
• Security experience such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2.

Hiring process

• Recruiter screening interview followed by a 30–45-minute meeting with the CEO, preferably on-site.
• Team interview focused on leadership and technology, including situational questions.
• Business and leadership case covering an architectural challenge, followed by decision, references, and offer.
