Senior Technical Consultant (Financial Software)

Location: Tokyo, Japan; onsite role

What you will do

• Lead client workshops and requirements-gathering sessions covering technical environments, architecture, interfaces, data, and implementation needs.
• Design, configure, test, deploy, and support financial technology solutions throughout the implementation lifecycle.
• Support data migration, conversion, reconciliation, validation, integration testing, user acceptance testing, and defect triage.
• Investigate application and implementation issues using system logs, databases, configuration, interfaces, and related technical components.
• Use SQL, REST APIs, XML, and other interfaces and data formats to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and validate results.
• Work with client, product, development, and delivery teams and communicate technical findings to technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in technical consulting, software implementation, application support, systems integration, software engineering, or a similar technology-focused role.
• Experience with financial software in a financial services environment, including banking, payments, lending, leasing, securities, risk, or another financial services area.
• Strong SQL skills and confidence working directly with databases and data.
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience, including investigation of application and system logs.
• Experience with system integration, data migration, software implementation, and/or conversion projects.
• Experience working with REST APIs and XML.
• Ability to analyze existing technology environments and understand how applications, data, interfaces, and systems interact.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to explain technical topics clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
• Effective Japanese and English communication skills; Japanese proficiency of JLPT N2 or above, or equivalent business-level proficiency, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with C# or other object-oriented programming languages.
• Experience with asset finance, leasing, lending, or asset finance technology.
• Experience delivering financial software in a client-facing consulting or professional services environment.
• Experience with enterprise financial systems and complex integrations involving multiple applications or data sources.
• Broader experience with banking or payments technology.
• Strong technical implementation experience across financial software platforms, including banking, payments, lending, leasing, securities, risk, or other financial technology.
