Client Consulting Manager (Payments)

Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid work with at least 3 days in the office.

What you will do

• Deliver managed consulting services for a major issuing client in Japan to support growth and improved profitability across its payments business.
• Support client proposals by contributing to objectives, scope, deliverables, approach, dependencies, and responsibilities.
• Build fact bases through client interviews and analysis of client documentation, processes, hirify.global data, and client data.
• Benchmark client performance against industry averages, identify gaps and opportunities, and develop recommendations using VCA methodologies and global best practices.
• Collaborate with data science, hub, global, and functional teams to apply advanced analytics and subject-matter expertise.
• Design and deliver presentations, support client execution of recommendations, and manage significant parts or the full lifecycle of engagements.

Requirements

• Fluent Japanese and at least business-level English proficiency.
• More than 8 years of experience and a record of high performance in the payments-related industry, an IT company, or a consulting company.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.
• Strong team orientation and a collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible working style, with the ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain high quality and rigor in reports and data analysis.
• Excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and written communication.
• Self-motivation, results orientation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
• Experience with analytics to inform and drive strategy and tactics, with a proven ability to generate insights from data.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience developing business cases with proven ROI.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, retail banking, or technology.
• Experience with strategic consulting projects.
• PMP certification or experience in technical project management.
• Experience in customer experience design using human-centered design or design thinking.
• Understanding of statistical analysis, modelling, and scoring schemes.
