Community Communications Lead (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco or New York City, with 3 days in the office per week.

Base salary: $240,000–$266,000 per year, plus equity and eligible performance-related bonuses.

What you will do

• Shape cultural narratives, campaign stories, and earned communications opportunities from the beginning of community programs and campaigns.
• Connect campaigns, partnerships, and community moments into broader narratives for press, creators, and cultural audiences.
• Build relationships with journalists, creators, and cultural voices across sport, music, design, food, fandom, and other communities.
• Surface stories from builders, small businesses, students, and other community members while preserving their authentic voices.
• Develop pitches, features, spokesperson opportunities, and channel content, sustaining narratives through follow-up stories, contributions, and outcomes.
• Partner with regional communications and territory leads and bring community feedback into product communications planning.

Requirements

• Experience leading communications for consumer brands, cultural campaigns, creator initiatives, or community programs, with a track record of earning meaningful attention.
• Strong cultural instincts and relationships beyond technology media, including an understanding of audience interests, trusted voices, and information sources.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to identify a larger story across multiple moments without losing distinctive details.
• Ability to contribute ideas early, express a clear point of view, collaborate thoughtfully, and influence direction while respecting others’ decision-making responsibilities.
• Experience working with community members and creators to produce authentic stories that reflect their goals and preserve their voices.
• Ability to build narratives over several months and recognize when sufficient substance exists for a deeper story.
• Creative ambition combined with strong organization, follow-through, independent work, and adaptability as priorities change.
• Ability to build trusted relationships across communications, community, marketing, product, and regional teams.
• Curiosity about AI and how people use it, with a commitment to communicating its possibilities and limitations accurately.
