Strategic Finance Generalist (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, United States; based at the San Francisco HQ with 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is available to new employees.

Salary: $234K–$260K annual base pay, plus equity, eligible performance bonuses, and benefits.

What you will do

• Support strategic projects involving transactions, capital markets activities, market research, new business model evaluations, and other critical initiatives.
• Partner with Research on financial planning, program funding, and other finance needs.
• Create presentations communicating OpenAI’s financial performance.
• Distill business and cost drivers into metrics for performance communication, resource allocation, and growth planning.
• Identify opportunities across the P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet.
• Work with Accounting and Corporate Finance to develop financial reporting and finance team operations while tracking market trends and performance benchmarks.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, or buy-side investing, combined with strategy and operations, business operations, or strategic finance experience at a fast-paced technology company.
• Ability to critically evaluate financial opportunities and risks.
• Ability to distill complex financial data into actionable insights and communicate effectively with leadership.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including explaining complex analyses and influencing decisions across functions.
• Strong ownership, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• Familiarity with business models and metrics relevant to OpenAI.
• Enthusiasm for technology and artificial intelligence.
• Extensive experience using AI.
