Data Center Facility Operations Lead - Commissioning & Delivery

Location: Remote-friendly, United States; travel required. Staff are expected to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time, and some roles may require more office time.

Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD.

What you will do

• Define commissioning and delivery strategies for new data center capacity, including plans, acceptance criteria, schedule milestones, and reporting.
• Oversee third-party L1–L5 commissioning, turn-up, and handover of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, control, cooling, and related facility infrastructure to operations.
• Set standards for commissioning agents, contractors, and operators across critical facility domains.
• Create standards for functional and integrated systems testing, deficiency and incident tracking, and risk reduction during turn-up.
• Develop approaches to accelerate time to capacity, improve equipment availability, and optimize cost, bill of materials, logistics, and physical delivery processes.
• Manage partner relationships and maintain alignment with Anthropic goals.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data center commissioning, construction delivery, or facility operations as a manager, engineer, technical lead, or related professional.
• Demonstrated success commissioning and delivering mission-critical capacity on schedule.
• Subject matter expertise in L1–L5 commissioning, including commissioning plans, functional and integrated systems testing, and handover to operations.
• Experience managing third-party partners, including commissioning agents, general contractors, and equipment vendors.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• 15+ years of experience commissioning or delivering large-scale data centers.
• 5+ years of Critical Facilities Operations and Maintenance leadership experience.
• Understanding of AI/ML workloads, including power, cooling, and network connectivity.
• Experience with technology cooling solutions such as rear door heat exchangers and/or cooling distribution units.
• Experience managing third-party data centers, including colocation operators and/or contract staffing vendors.
• Experience turning up liquid-cooled HPC capacity, including developing commissioning plans, creating acceptance criteria, and conducting handover reviews.
