AI Engineer IV (AI)

Location: Remote/telecommuter, working from home; hiring is limited to Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, or Wisconsin, with some limitations based on role or city.

Salary: $131,900–$237,400 national range; $150,300–$270,500 national plus range for higher-cost labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.

What you will do

• Recommend and develop systems, frameworks, prototypes, and minimum viable products for AI applications.
• Design and implement cloud architectures, scalable data pipelines, low-latency APIs, and services for AI systems.
• Develop monitoring code and infrastructure to maintain reliable, consistent model and system performance.
• Advise leadership on enterprise AI strategies, technology roadmaps, infrastructure, governance, and best practices.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders to conceptualize business-valued AI solutions while ensuring governance and data quality.
• Mentor AI engineers, provide thought leadership, conduct peer reviews, and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or 2+ years of related professional IT/analytics experience.
• At least 5 years of industry experience developing, deploying, and maintaining AI or ML systems; up to 2 years may be substituted with an AI-focused master’s/PhD or AI Engineering certifications.
• Experience developing deep learning architectures including CNNs, transformers, GANs, LSTMs, GNNs, autoencoders, diffusion models, and neural ordinary differential equations.
• Software engineering experience with Python, NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and scikit-learn, including debugging, hyperparameter tuning, and ML solution optimization.
• Knowledge of software design patterns, microservices, distributed computing, container orchestration, secure software, and scalable systems.
• Experience with traditional ML lifecycles and building minimal interfaces for AI products, such as Streamlit or Shiny.
• Proficiency in ethical AI practices, including explainable AI, fairness, and mitigation of bias and hallucinations.
• Strong communication, collaboration, mentorship, and ability to explain AI tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to perform the stated sedentary, keyboarding, lifting, and communication requirements with or without accommodation.

Nice to have

• At least 6 years developing deep learning models with TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLX, JAX, or other modern frameworks; older libraries such as Theano or Caffe are also accepted. Graduate education or research experience may supplement this requirement.
• Experience with design patterns and microservices architecture, including at least 3 years of production container orchestration.
• At least 3 years implementing ethical AI projects involving explainable AI, fairness, and bias mitigation.
• At least 3 years implementing advanced prompt engineering techniques such as Retrieval Augmented Generation, Tree of Thoughts, or Multimodal CoT, including leading prompt engineering teams, code reviews, and organizational best practices.
• At least 4 years productionizing AI models through scalable data pipelines and robust monitoring systems.
• At least 5 years working in Agile-like teams and environments.
