Forward Deployed Engineer (Defense)

Location: Remote, UK; hybrid workplace. Willingness to travel up to 20% globally, including field and conflict-adjacent locations.

hirify.global is a startup developing software tools and intelligence for defense, security, and public safety missions in remote, disconnected, and extreme environments, including the Farsight, Identifi, Chronos, and Anomaly 6 products.

What you will do

• Deploy with commercial, military, and security users to identify operational challenges and deliver tailored hardware and software solutions.
• Rapidly prototype low-TRL platforms and provide validated user feedback and performance data for internal product roadmaps.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to transition fielded prototypes into scalable, productized capabilities.
• Integrate Reveal products with adjacent systems including ATAK, Lattice, and Palantir through custom adapters and plugins.
• Manage technical deployments in austere, high-pressure environments, including edge compute, networking, and unmanned aerial systems.
• Provide technical mentorship and leadership across multidisciplinary government and commercial project teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in defense or dual-use innovation, ideally in forward-deployed or special operations contexts.
• Experience leading R&D projects combining autonomy, data engineering, cloud computing, and operational hardware.
• Deep familiarity with Python, Go, C++, and systems-level programming for edge hardware.
• Experience designing, consuming, and integrating RESTful and gRPC APIs, including integration with ATAK, Lattice, and Palantir through custom adapters and plugins.
• Operational understanding of the defense mission space and systems such as ATAK, Palantir, Lattice, and Reveal Farsight.
• Proven experience delivering secure tactical software and hardware systems in sensitive or constrained environments.
• Strong communication skills for advocating user needs, translating technical concepts, and building stakeholder consensus.
• Ability to navigate sensitive environments with limited oversight.
• Familiarity with UAS systems, MLOps, cloud/edge hybrid compute, and high-trust technology deployment practices.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% globally, including field and conflict-adjacent locations.
• Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States is required for all hires.
