Senior Director, Discovery Biology - Oncology Small Molecule

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America; onsite at the Boston site. Domestic relocation is indicated. Travel requirements: 10%.

Salary: $194,100–$305,600 per year, plus potential annual bonus and long-term incentive.

What you will do

• Develop and execute the oncology small molecule pipeline strategy and shape the portfolio of first-in-class and best-in-class medicines.
• Lead the Boston oncology small molecule team and provide strategic oversight as programs progress from early discovery through late-stage clinical development.
• Apply cancer biology expertise and knowledge of the oncology landscape to evaluate new therapeutics and guide portfolio decisions.
• Drive milestones from preclinical candidate selection through IND-enabling studies and early clinical development, including regulatory engagement.
• Lead scientific evaluations of external assets and platforms for business development.
• Contribute to Discovery Oncology leadership, mentor program leaders, develop staff, and foster collaborative, inclusive, high-performance teams.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biology, Oncology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Toxicology, Biophysics, Immunology, or a related STEM subject area, plus 10+ years of post-degree experience in industry or equivalent.
• Extensive cancer biology experience and the ability to translate scientific insights into drug development strategies from discovery through late-stage development.
• Innovative small molecule design experience, particularly induced proximity.
• Track record of advancing multiple well-designed investigational small molecule drug candidates into the clinic, with attention to patient experience and clinical execution.
• Late program leadership experience partnering with regulatory, translational sciences, and clinical development, including hands-on IND module and filing experience.
• Experience managing senior and junior scientists, including project leadership and strategic contributions.
• Ability to build relationships within highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams and drive drug discovery initiatives.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, self-motivation, and ability to prioritize deliverables.

• Broad small molecule experience, including novel approaches.
• Experience with modalities beyond traditional small molecules, particularly small molecule payloads.
