Senior Scientist (Cell Biology/Oncology)

Location: Houston, TX, USA; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without employer sponsorship.

Salary: $100,600–$151,000 USD annually; eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the development and implementation of protein expression services for tissues and liquid biopsies, including circulating tumor cells.
• Design and independently perform experiments, analyze and present data, and conduct assay development, validation, and sample testing.
• Perform assays according to SOPs, establish and improve procedures, maintain required documentation, and troubleshoot scientific issues.
• Coordinate project timelines, monitor project-related expenses, and ensure experiments use qualified equipment with current maintenance logs.
• Train and mentor junior staff in cell culture, antibody staining, data analysis, collation, and presentation; supervise assigned laboratory staff.
• Communicate results to clients and internal stakeholders, provide scientific expertise, and assist with client reports and presentations.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in cell biology, oncology, or a related field and 6+ years of relevant laboratory experience, or a Master’s degree and 10+ years of experience in an academic core or industry.
• Experience with cell culture.
• Experience with manual staining and automated protocols, including Leica Bond autostainer use, for multiplex immunofluorescence assays.
• Experience with Indica Halo or other digital pathology software.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a team-oriented environment, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to organize and analyze data and prepare reports; excellent judgment and discretion.
• Fluent English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
• Ability to work extended hours occasionally to meet business demands.
• Ability to lift and carry 1–15 lbs. and lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequent sitting, grasping, and right/left finger dexterity required.
• Ability to work in cold freezer environments ranging from -20°C to -196°C.
• Legal authorization to work in the country of employment without employer sponsorship.

• Solid understanding of current GLP and/or ISO/CAP/CLIA standards.
