Data Centre Operations Engineer (Crypto)

Location: Hybrid/onsite in the New York/New Jersey area, United States; onsite work is required with on-call responsibilities and travel to physical data centre and office locations as needed.

Salary: $60,000–$70,000 annual base salary, plus potential bonus, equity, wellness allowance, and US benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

What you will do

• Perform preventive and corrective onsite maintenance on critical exchange infrastructure.
• Install, configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot physical server and networking systems, including power, cooling, and airflow infrastructure.
• Provide facility support for installations, decommissioning, break/fix work, logistics, access control, and site operations.
• Maintain accurate, audit-ready asset documentation, rack layouts, capacity records, dependencies, ITAM, and NetBox IPAM/DCIM data.
• Plan and execute new-site build-outs, including rack layouts, patching and power plans, quote checks, incident reports, and backfills.
• Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and cross-regional teams across the US, EU, UK, and APAC; participate in on-call coverage and travel.

Requirements

• 3+ years of data-centre operations experience in a highly security-focused environment and 3+ years of experience in a large-scale data-centre environment.
• Experience with power, cooling, and airflow management for physical devices.
• Basic knowledge of IP addressing, subnets, and gateway configuration.
• Accountability for site or system ownership in a large-scale environment.
• Experience with precise physical network cabling and patching to port maps, selecting optics and cables, and ordering or removing colocation cross-connects.
• Experience with change and access control, including change tickets, maintenance windows, site-access tickets, visitor escorting, and badge or door-controller faults.
• Experience with data-centre logistics, including inbound shipment tickets, loading-bay handoffs, and shipping equipment between sites.
• Strong documentation discipline and the ability to maintain a single source of truth for assets, capacity, and dependencies.
• Understanding of financial planning or forecasting in an operational context; ability to collaborate across teams and regions with transparency and professionalism, perform under pressure, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Physical labour capability, including the ability to lift more than 25 kg.
