Facilities Engineering Operations Lead (AI Data Center)

Location: Onsite in the Bay Area at the San Jose data center and Milpitas sites, with regular time at the San Jose headquarters. Relocation support is available for candidates moving to San Jose.

Salary: $150,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end operations for an AI data center, including uptime, incident response, escalation, and outage response across power, cooling, and white space.
• Build SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, change management, preventive and predictive maintenance, shift coverage, on-call operations, and root-cause analysis processes.
• Operate liquid cooling systems for high-density racks, including CDUs, secondary fluid loops, water chemistry, filtration, leak detection, and flow and inlet-temperature monitoring.
• Own electrical operations covering switchgear, busway, PDUs, rack load balancing, LOTO, and arc-flash safety.
• Manage electrical, mechanical, CDU OEM, and fire/life safety vendors and contractors, including scope, quotes, and onsite work.
• Establish monitoring and alarming across BMS, DCIM, rack, and CDU telemetry; manage rack deployment, commissioning, inventory, operational metrics, and site-readiness processes.

Requirements

• 4–8+ years of experience in critical facilities and data center operations, including experience as a lead or senior critical facilities engineer or single-site facilities manager.
• Hands-on production experience with liquid cooling, including CDUs, direct-to-chip/DLC systems, and secondary fluid loops.
• Strong knowledge of data center electrical distribution, including switchgear, UPS, busway, PDUs, LOTO, arc-flash safety, and NFPA 70E.
• Experience writing and drilling SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs; running change management, maintenance programs, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Experience managing mechanical, electrical, and fire/life safety vendors, plus working knowledge of BMS, DCIM, and power monitoring systems.
• Ability to work onsite in the Bay Area and take ownership of the full site.

Nice to have

• Experience operating high-density GPU or AI infrastructure at a neocloud, hyperscaler, or colocation provider.
• Experience standing up a new site or data hall, including commissioning and turn-up.
• Experience building and staffing 24/7 operations and on-call rotations.
• Familiarity with ML and LLM architectures, Python or another scripting language, AI coding tools, or startup environments.
