Systems Administrator (Linux/Windows)

Location: Hybrid in Oakville, Canada; required onsite at the Oakville office a minimum of 3 days per week and as needed. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an on-call rotation one week every three weeks, including nights, weekends, holidays, and scheduled maintenance outside business hours.

What you will do

• Install, configure, maintain, patch, upgrade, secure, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers and server-based applications across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, permissions, service accounts, and approved access-management procedures based on least privilege.
• Monitor service health, logs, performance, resource utilization, and data transfers; investigate irregularities and resolve incidents within agreed service levels.
• Provide escalated production support, restore services, communicate impact and progress, document actions, and coordinate with internal teams and vendors.
• Support capacity planning, performance tuning, operating-system lifecycle upgrades, disaster recovery, backups, documentation, and operational procedures for more than 500 servers.
• Operate Kubernetes clusters, Docker workloads, VMware environments, and related deployments, including troubleshooting pods, networking, persistent storage, resource constraints, and operational upgrades.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• Hands-on production experience installing, configuring, securing, patching, and troubleshooting Linux and Windows operating systems, including Linux services, permissions, package management, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
• Hands-on administration of at least one of VMware, OpenStack, or Proxmox, including virtual-machine provisioning, compute and storage management, and performance troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP, including provisioning, monitoring, securing resources, troubleshooting, and managing access permissions.
• Practical experience with Bash, PowerShell, or Python and automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
• Knowledge of Apache, IIS, NGINX, or Varnish, plus working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, subnetting, routing, firewalls, load balancing, VPNs, TLS certificates, and web servers.
• Experience with systems performance monitoring and alerting tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Pingdom.
• Hands-on experience with Git, Jenkins, Sonar, pipeline frameworks, Veeam, Elastic, CrowdStrike, ManageEngine Endpoint Central, Zscaler, or Cisco Duo.
