Senior Research Scientist (RNA Biology)

Location: Redmond, Washington, United States

Salary: $135,000–$170,000 total compensation per year, including bonus, depending on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead R&D projects, manage timelines and deliverables, and coordinate internal resources to meet business milestones.
• Design and engineer IVT mRNA platform technologies for novel RNA-based therapies, including in vivo CAR-T, T-cell engagers, and cancer vaccines.
• Design and lead in vitro and in vivo functional assays for novel mRNA candidates; generate, interpret, and present project data.
• Collaborate with marketing and production teams on new product and service development aligned with customer expectations.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, monitor supplies, and maintain clean and orderly work areas, equipment, and storage.
• Train and manage junior scientists and direct reports, including goal-setting, prioritization, technical guidance, feedback, performance evaluation, and team development.

Requirements

• PhD in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical science, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• More than 2 years of relevant experience in molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Direct experience with nucleic acid design, synthesis, and assessment in tissue culture or animal models, with strong technical and mathematical skills.
• Broad molecular biology knowledge and the ability to apply engineering principles to solve problems.
• Strong collaboration, time management, and resource management skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members and support colleagues.
• Humility and eagerness to continue learning and contribute to a supportive team.
