VP of Engineering

Location: Fully remote within the United States; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Certain roles may also require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation and security clearance.

Salary: United States Wage Range: $200,000–$250,000 annually.

What you will do

• Set and drive technical standards, engineering best practices, and consistency across more than 100 engineers working on multiple federal programs, including adoption and development of agentic AI tools.
• Own engineering talent decisions, including identifying and promoting high performers, developing growth potential, and maintaining organizational standards.
• Partner with Program Managers, Tech Leads, and VPs to deliver high-quality, technically sound solutions.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership by reviewing architecture, solving difficult technical problems, and prototyping solutions when needed.
• Build and own engineering career ladders, including skill levels, growth paths, mentorship, certifications, continuing education, and promotion criteria.
• Drive portfolio-wide technical strategy, improve performance, tooling, and delivery, support capture efforts, and represent engineering capabilities to clients and at industry events.

Requirements

• Deep experience leading engineering organizations, including meaningful experience in a federal contracting environment.
• Hands-on technical credibility and the ability to provide deep technical guidance when required.
• Experience building technical culture, career development programs, and high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery, DevSecOps, and cloud modernization in federal contexts.
• Experience building partnerships and driving technical change with government clients.
• Collaborative leadership style focused on alignment and team empowerment.
• Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Authorization to work in the United States. Certain roles may additionally require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation and security clearance.

Nice to have

• Commercial, product, or industry experience outside government, with the ability to apply those lessons to federal delivery.
• Current knowledge of AI/ML, cloud platform engineering, and developer productivity, with the ability to turn emerging technology into practical client advantages.
