Data Center Network Operations Engineer

Location: Hybrid; hiring locations are Atlanta, Austin, Denver, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, DC, United States. Limited travel may be required, and offer-stage candidates may attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

Base salary: $126,000–$174,000 in San Francisco; $120,000–$165,000 in Seattle, Washington, DC, and New York; $98,000–$123,000 in Austin, Denver, and Atlanta. Compensation may vary by work location and level. Equity plan eligibility is included.

What you will do

• Maintain operational availability of hirify.global’s global data center network across more than 330 cities and 125 countries.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Network Engineering, SRE, deployment teams, hardware manufacturers, data center and network providers, logistics partners, and other vendors.
• Create documentation, plans, SOPs, and MOPs, and manage remote contractors performing data center tasks.
• Support and configure physical network infrastructure and provide feedback on internal tools and external vendor partnerships.
• Use AI tools to automate repetitive operational tasks, accelerate documentation, and improve troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation to maintain 24×7 operational availability.

Requirements

• Experience with Juniper, Cisco, and DWDM network equipment.
• At least 4 years of Linux systems administration experience.
• Experience managing and instructing remote contractors.
• Familiarity with standing up infrastructure in remote colocation facilities and with data center operations such as deployment, migration, and decommissioning.
• Experience running and improving operational processes, including automation tooling, in a rapidly changing environment.
• Comfort with basic program management responsibilities, including prioritization, planning, scheduling, and status reporting, using tools such as JIRA.
• Strong technical, verbal, written communication, problem-solving, attention-to-detail, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-driven, proactive, able to learn quickly, execute multiple tasks simultaneously, and work effectively across schedules, time zones, and cultures.
• Ability to participate in a shared on-call rotation for 24×7 global network availability.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, MIS, or a related technical field.
• Direct experience executing complex data center or infrastructure projects.
• Experience installing and maintaining data center or IT infrastructure and DCIM tools.
• Ability to manage Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
• Team-player mindset.
• Multilingual ability or experience working with infrastructure in multiple countries.
• Experience with remote lights-out and out-of-band access to data center resources.
• Linux certifications such as RHCSA and network certifications such as CCNA or JNCIA or higher.
• Configuration management experience with SaltStack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
• Scripting or software development experience in Bash, Python, or Go.
• Familiarity with load balancing and reverse proxies such as Nginx, Varnish, HAProxy, or Apache.
• Experience working within a large-scale SaaS vendor.
