Data Center Technician (Cybersecurity)

Location: On-site in the Sacramento, CA area; the posting also states that the candidate must be able to work on-site in Santa Clara, CA. Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance to Sacramento, CA.

Base salary: $70,000–$95,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Install, configure, test, and upgrade servers, network equipment, and other data center hardware in production environments.
• Run fiber optic and copper cabling, maintain cable documentation, and apply cable management standards.
• Configure servers and Layer 2 networks and troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues.
• Follow data center best practices and security protocols while supporting data center expansion builds.
• Assist with inventory management, asset tracking, and maintenance-window activities, including occasional off-hours work.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship or Green Card holder status.
• 4+ years of experience supporting production data centers.
• Experience installing fiber optic cabling and a basic understanding of power cabling and PDUs.
• Familiarity with Linux and other network operating systems, server, storage, and network technologies.
• Comfort using a command-line interface.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and use good judgment to take action and move work forward.
• Ability to collaborate with local and remote teams.
• Ability to work on-site in Santa Clara, CA and within commuting distance of Sacramento, CA.
• Proven experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, workflows, efficiency, and business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting a large-scale production data center.
• Knowledge of Cisco, Linux, or Arista network systems.
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA+, or Linux certifications.
• Comfort using a command-line interface.
