Product Designer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, United States

Salary: $180K–$220K plus equity

What you will do

• Own product surfaces end to end, from early concepts through launch and iteration, including a central role in the Simulations work.
• Explore how simulations and related systems work, then design clear, intuitive, legible, and trustworthy experiences for researchers.
• Participate in customer conversations, review feedback, and turn customer input into design decisions.
• Create wireframes, interaction designs, and high-fidelity visuals while maintaining a high bar for craft in the shipped product.
• Challenge features that add complexity without sufficient value and help reduce scope to the most important work.
• Collaborate directly with the Head of Design, product managers, Sales, Engineering, founders, and scientists building the Simulations Lab.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product design industry experience, ideally including experience as the lead or founding designer on a product or major product area.
• Experience taking a product from 0 to 1 or working in an early-stage environment where the direction changed frequently.
• Genuine curiosity about technically complex systems and a track record of designing clear products on top of them.
• Comfort working directly with customers and treating their feedback as a primary input to design.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Strong but loosely held opinions on design and product.

Nice to have

• Comfort designing in code, including building prototypes with real data or shipping frontend changes alongside engineers.
• Experience building enterprise software.
• Experience building products in the research industry.
