Staff Product Designer (AI Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid, based at the headquarters in Mountain View, California, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and occasional travel to client sites for field research and direct user engagement.

Salary: $200,000–$236,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own the design agenda for a healthcare domain spanning multiple workflows and product surfaces; define opportunities, success criteria, and priorities with cross-functional partners.
• Shape product direction and roadmaps by synthesizing user research, customer needs, business priorities, and technical constraints.
• Set creative direction through concepts, interaction models, prototypes, narratives, critique, and implementation guidance.
• Lead research into clinical and practice operations, including on-site observation and workflow testing; map interactions across people, processes, and systems.
• Stay hands-on from concept through launch by creating interfaces and realistic prototypes, validating ideas, addressing accessibility and edge cases, and partnering with engineering.
• Create reusable design-system patterns and align teams through design briefs, workflow maps, prototypes, clear decisions, and compelling storytelling.

Requirements

• Track record of domain-level ownership of complex, end-to-end product design across multiple workflows and teams, including accountability through delivery and iteration.
• Portfolio demonstrating creative vision, product judgment, strong interaction and visual craft, information architecture, clear interaction models, visual hierarchy, accessibility, edge-case handling, and error prevention.
• Strong research, problem framing, systems thinking, and ability to reason about users, business operations, and technical systems.
• Experience aligning cross-functional partners, mentoring experienced designers, improving work across teams, building trust, challenging assumptions constructively, and supporting sound decisions.
• Ability to write clear design briefs, articulate domain-level vision, and explain decisions to design, technical, business, and customer audiences.
• Applied experience with AI-assisted design and prototyping using tools such as Figma and AI-assisted development environments, including code-based prototypes when appropriate.
• Ability to protect sensitive information and critically review AI-assisted outputs; the role does not require ownership of production engineering.
• Ownership, sound judgment under ambiguity, proactive prioritization, clear communication of commitments, and the ability to balance speed with quality.
• Genuine curiosity about healthcare and ability to work in a high-trust environment.
