Product Design Manager (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; hybrid for candidates based in San Francisco, with occasional travel to the San Francisco coworking space for key meetings and team events.

Salary: $115,000–$235,000 USD annually, depending on geographic tier, skills, experience, and location.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a five-person Product Design team.
• Set and operationalize design competencies, quality standards, and scalable design practices.
• Own selected design projects end to end in Figma, from exploration and concept development through delivery.
• Partner with product and company leadership to align design direction with product strategy and business goals.
• Build and strengthen design systems, including efforts to make them suitable for AI-assisted prototyping with real components.
• Advocate for customer needs across discovery, interaction design, research, prototyping, and product delivery.

Requirements

• 8+ years of product design experience and 2+ years of management experience.
• Experience coaching senior designers and helping them develop strategic influence.
• Strong portfolio covering visual design, interaction design, systems thinking, product storytelling, and user-centered design.
• Experience building and scaling design systems across multiple products or surfaces.
• Practical AI fluency in design, including judgment about appropriate use in production work.
• Strong cross-functional communication, user research, product concept development, and leadership collaboration skills.

• Experience with two-sided marketplaces.
• Experience designing for meaningful work and the veterinary or animal healthcare industry.
